Aurum
Aurum is the currency of Virtuverse.
The term was coined (no pun intended) via an open vote contest held in the first half of September, 2019. The finalists were "Shards" and "Prisms" both suggested by the player Void.
The event results were published on Wednesday, September 18th with the victory by player KhiRocker thus making Aurum the official currency.

Hello Colonists!
We’d like to thank all of you who participated in the ‘Currency Naming' competition! We havenarrowed it down to 3 choices, and I thought I’d give a bit of a backlot perspective on why wechose the 3 names that we did from the writing team and game design perspective. Firstly, let’sgo over the three finalists!

- Void - Prisms
These three names are the most voted upon by the dev team within the context of the worldand lore behind the story and we thought it would be a good idea to share that information withyou all as well - we didn’t want it to influence the suggestions though which is why we’reintroducing it to you now. In the world Virtuverse, there is a Crystal that will be incrediblyimportant to the story and world design of Virtuverse, defining one of the biggest enemies youwill face in the game.
We’ll be making a couple of posts in the contest channel where you will be able to votebetween these three choices via reactions and the winner will become the new currency! Votingopens today and ends at the end of the day Sunday!
We also needed a Currency name that could be spread across separate genres, such asScifi, Fantasy and Horror. We have designed the main antagonist of the story to be able tocross into each of these genres in an overall story arc. The choice of these three names washeavily based on the genres feeling real in different worlds. Something such as ‘BitCoins' or‘Galactic Credits' would seem out of place in the Fantasy setting planned for the future.
